Current Opportunities
We are in the initial phase of launching the Hub, with a double focus on growing the Center’s infrastructure and building its endowment. This phase is supported by generous bridge funding from the Provost’s office, the Division of Research and Innovation, and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
Contact Dr. Victoria Stewart (Assistant Director, Humanities Center) at VictoriaS@wayne.edu for more information on any of the opportunities listed below.
Internships: Our summer internship program, formerly known as the WSU Humanities Clinic, is up and running. This program provides paid internships for graduate students and advanced undergraduates in the arts, humanities, and related fields. Our community partners include local museums, healthcare organizations, small businesses, and non-profits). Click here to learn more about the outstanding legacy of the Humanities Clinic.
Humanities Project and Grant Consulting:
- WSU faculty and graduate students: We assist members of the campus community in the planning and grant writing phases for publicly engaged research and teaching in the humanities, arts, and allied disciplines. In some instances, we can also recommend grants for faculty projects. Not only will this work help you with your project, but it will also help us establish the Hub! Contact us to schedule a consultation.
- Detroit community members: Humanities Project and Grant Consulting for the Detroit community: The Hub also serves as a point of connection and assistance for campus and community members in planning, funding, and carrying out relevant public humanities programs and projects. Have an idea but need help? Need a reader for your grant application? Want to meet WSU faculty and staff who can make your vision a reality? We are here to help!
Community Partnership Development: We establish and reaffirm relationships with community partners that advance the public humanities in Detroit. We can also help community partners connect with subject experts on campus. If you are a Detroit-based organization that engages with the humanities and arts in your work and you could benefit from our services and connections, we want to hear from you! Contact us to schedule a meeting.
